[DE]: Die Baureihe 120 ist eine Elektrolokomotivbaureihe für den Fernverkehr der Deutschen Bahn. Sie gilt als die weltweit erste in Serie gebaute Drehstrom-Lokomotive im Hochleistungsbereich mit Umrichter in Halbleitertechnik und ist ein Meilenstein in der Entwicklung elektrischer Lokomotiven. Ab 1979 wurden fünf Prototypen als 120.0 erbaut, die Serienlieferung erfolgte von 1987 bis 1989 als 120.1. Im Jahr 2007 wurden acht Loks für den Einsatz im Regionalverkehr im Raum Rostock zur 120.2 umgebaut, was den Einbau des Nahverkehrspakets beinhaltete. Zwei Loks wurden für DB Systemtechnik 2005 generalüberholt, wobei sie die neue Bezeichnung 120.5 erhielten. 2020 wurden alle Loks bei der Deutschen Bahn ausgemustert.

[EN]: The class 120 is a series of electric locomotives for long-distance transport operated by Deutsche Bahn. It is considered the world's first series-produced high-performance three-phase locomotive with a semiconductor converter and is a milestone in the development of electric locomotives. Five prototypes were built as 120.0 from 1979 onwards, with series production taking place from 1987 to 1989 as 120.1. In 2007, eight locomotives were converted to 120.2 for use in regional transport in the Rostock area, which included the installation of the local transport package. Two locomotives were overhauled for DB Systemtechnik in 2005, receiving the new designation 120.5. In 2020, all locomotives were taken out of service by Deutsche Bahn.
